5-Day Rwanda Gorilla & Golden Monkey Safari

Your safari begins at Kigali International Airport, where you will be welcomed by your professional guide. After a short briefing, you will embark on a guided tour of Kigali, a city renowned for its cleanliness, safety, and vibrant atmosphere. The tour includes a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which provides a moving account of Rwanda's history and resilience. You will also explore Kimironko Market, a lively hub where locals trade fresh produce, fabrics, and crafts. Craft centers and art galleries showcase Rwanda's creativity, while city viewpoints provide panoramic views of the rolling hills. In the evening, enjoy dinner and overnight in Kigali.

After breakfast, depart Kigali for Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. The drive takes approximately two and a half hours through terraced farms, tea plantations, and villages nestled among endless green hills. Upon arrival at your lodge near the park, check in and enjoy lunch. The afternoon is free for relaxation or optional guided nature walks and community visits. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

After an early breakfast, transfer to park headquarters for briefing. Trek through bamboo forests and volcanic terrain (1-6 hours) to find a habituated gorilla family. Spend one unforgettable hour observing these majestic primates. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Optional afternoon: Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village or golden monkey trekking (if time allows). Dinner and overnight at same lodge.

After breakfast, return to Volcanoes National Park for golden monkey trekking. These playful primates are found only in the Virunga volcanic region. The trek is generally shorter and easier than gorilla trekking. Spend time observing the monkeys' behavior and photographing them. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village, where you'll experience traditional Rwandan music, dance, and storytelling, interacting with local communities. Dinner and overnight at same lodge.

After breakfast, check out and drive back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy souvenir shopping at local craft centers, a coffee experience tour to learn about Rwanda's rich coffee culture, or lunch at a local restaurant to savor traditional Rwandan cuisine. Your guide will transfer you to Kigali International Airport for departure.
